Product Description
Medicept XTRACEM LC is an advanced dental material designed to serve as a versatile and reliable glass-monomer light-cured radiopaque lining, luting, and restorative cement. This unique product combines the benefits of glass ionomer cement with the added strength and durability of resin reinforcement. Its innovative formulation utilizes both chemical and light-curing mechanisms to achieve an ideal balance between early strength and a controlled setting.
One of the standout features of XTRACEM LC is its high initial strength, ensuring secure and long-lasting cementation. It boasts excellent flexural and compressive strengths, providing resistance to both bending forces and compression, which are essential properties for restorative materials that withstand the rigors of oral function. Adhesion is a critical factor in dental restorations, and XTRACEM LC excels in this area. It demonstrates high shear bond strength to both dentin and enamel, ensuring reliable adhesion to the natural tooth structure. This feature helps to create durable and stable restorations that can withstand the stresses of everyday use.
Furthermore, the material contains a significant amount of fluoride, which can be beneficial in promoting remineralization and helping to prevent future caries. This cariostatic activity makes XTRACEM LC particularly suitable for certain clinical situations where cavity control is crucial.
For ease of use and aesthetic results, XTRACEM LC is available in four popular Vita shades, facilitating accurate color matching to the patient's natural tooth structure. The material's dual-curing mechanism adds to its versatility, providing both strength and control during the application process. It allows for efficient light curing while ensuring complete polymerization, even in areas where light penetration may be limited.
Additionally, XTRACEM LC is radiopaque, making it clearly visible on radiographs. This radiopacity aids in diagnostics and ensures proper placement and monitoring of the restoration. One of the noteworthy advantages of this product is that it is HEMA (2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate) free, which reduces the risk of allergies in sensitive patients.
XTRACEM LC is user-friendly and straightforward to handle, thanks to its easy mixing properties, allowing for convenient and efficient clinical application.
Product Indications:
- Deciduous cavity restoration: Suitable for restoring cavities in baby teeth.
- Class V/cervical lesions and small single surface class I or II cavities in adult teeth: Effective for restoring small lesions and cavities near the gum line.
- Glass ionomer/composite "sandwich" restorations: Compatible with sandwich restorations combining glass ionomer and composite materials.
- ART (Atraumatic Restorative Treatment) or minimally invasive procedures: Ideal for conservative restorative approaches.
- Situations where cariostatic activity is required: Recommended for cases where caries control is essential.

Directions
- Preparation: Ensure the tooth or teeth requiring restoration are clean and free from any debris or contamination.
- Isolation: Isolate the treatment area using a dental dam or any other suitable method to ensure a dry operating field for optimal bonding.
- Mixing: Dispense the appropriate amount of Medicept XTRACEM LC base and catalyst onto a clean, cool, and oil-free glass slab or mixing pad. Use the provided spatula to mix the components thoroughly for the recommended time to achieve a homogenous and consistent mix.
- Application: Load the mixed XTRACEM LC onto the prepared tooth or into the restoration cavity using a suitable placement instrument. Ensure proper adaptation of the material to the tooth structure, removing any excess material as needed.
- Light-Curing: After placing the material, use a suitable dental curing light with an appropriate wavelength to initiate the light-curing process. Ensure adequate light exposure to each surface of the restoration for complete polymerization.
- Finishing and Polishing: Once the material is fully cured, finish and polish the restoration as necessary to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional result.
- Bite Check: Perform a proper occlusal adjustment to ensure the restoration does not interfere with the patient's bite and occlusion.
- Post-Operative Instructions: Provide the patient with appropriate post-operative instructions, including care for the restored area and any potential temporary sensitivity.
- Radiographs: If necessary, take radiographs to verify the placement and adaptation of the restoration.
